Forks, WA Vacation Rentals - The Brightwater House

Welcome to the website for the Brightwater House, Vacation Rentals near Forks, Washington.  Come stay with us and enjoy solitude and our beautiful location.

Brightwater House Vacation Rentals are located in the conservancy zone on a big bend of the Sol Duc River, surrounded by 60 acres of natural habitat with 3500 feet of river frontage.

Our Vacation Rentals are on the site of an 1882 homestead, but evidence demonstrates that this prime spot has been inhabited for thousands of years. This secluded homestead was purchased in 1990 by your hosts, Richard and Beth Chesmore, to create a refuge for people seeking nature and fly- fishing opportunities.

The name "Brightwater House" was conceived from two sources. The Sol Duc River, which runs beside it, is a Quileute Indian term meaning "sparkling waters." In addition, Trout Unlimited and the Federation of Fly Fishers have, for years, led the effort to sustain "bright waters" from coast to coast. Our name honors this quest.

Your hosts and riverkeepers, Richard and Beth Chesmore, provide personal service to insure the pleasure of your stay. Richard has 35 years experience as an archaeologist specializing in the history and prehistory of the Northwest Coast and the Olympic Peninsula.

Beth is a mental health professional and has worked in the Forks area and with the surrounding Tribes for over 21 years. Together they can share their knowledge of the rich history of the area and its Native American culture.

They are also owners of a Work in Progress and Café Paix (an internet café) in downtown Forks, which provides an eclectic selection of local arts, collectibles and used books. This location has also become the local venue for live musical performances.
